In May 2013 the MMLA organized an Event in celebration of European Maritime Day with the participation of Dr. Joe Borg, former EU Commissioner , Lino C. Vassallo, Permanent Representative of Malta to the IMO and former Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen, and John Sullivan, Chairman of Tug Malta.

In February 2010 the held a Seminar on 'The Rotterdam Rules - A new international regime for cargo claims' with the participation of Prof. Charles Debattista, Arbitrator at Stone Chambers, Gray's Inn, London and Professor for Commercial Law at the University of Southampton.
In January 2011, the MMLA held a Seminar on 'The Updated Commercial Yacht Code' with the participation of Ing. Karl Briffa, Flag & Port State Control Inspector, Merchant Shipping Directorate, TM , and Ing. Paul Cardona of MICS.
In February 2013 the MMLA organised a Seminar on ‘The Maritime Labour Convention’ with the participation of Ivan Sammut, Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary in May 2014 the MMLA invited to a joint seminar organised by the European Maritime Law Organisation (EMLO) and the MMLA.
International and local experts spoke about topical issues including European Prospective Policy Initiatives, Sanctions, State Aid, Stowaways and Illegal Immigration, and Limitation of Liability
Speakers included amongst others Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, President of EMLO, who was the first President of the UK Supreme Court (2009 – 2012) and appointed Lord Chief Justice in 2005.
