In September 2008 an International Joint Meeting was organised by the MMLA and the International Salvage Union (ISU) on 'Environmental Salvage' with the participation of Mr. Arnold Witte, then President of ISU, Capt. Nicholas Sloande and Mr. Hendrick Land of Svitzer, Mr. Archie Biship, Legal Advisor of ISU, Mr. Mike Lacey, Secretary General of ISU and Mr. Mario Mifusd, Senior Manager at the then Malta Maritime Authority.

In May 2013 the MMLA organized an Event in celebration of European Maritime Day with the participation of Dr. Joe Borg, former EU Commissioner , Lino C. Vassallo, Permanent Representative of Malta to the IMO and former Registrar General of Shipping and Seamen, and John Sullivan, Chairman of Tug Malta.

In February 2010 the held a Seminar on 'The Rotterdam Rules - A new international regime for cargo claims' with the participation of Prof. Charles Debattista, Arbitrator at Stone Chambers, Gray's Inn, London and Professor for Commercial Law at the University of Southampton.

In January 2011, the MMLA held a Seminar on 'The Updated Commercial Yacht Code' with the participation of Ing. Karl Briffa, Flag & Port State Control Inspector, Merchant Shipping Directorate, TM , and Ing. Paul Cardona of MICS.
